GMail Adding Graphical Ads

Image Ads Coming To GMail

GMail Adding Graphical AdsWhen Google launched its ubiquitous AdSense for publishers back in 2003 it was a text-ad only advertising network which managed to obtain much higher than standard CTRs as the advertising was better matched to the content than ever before, and the ads themselves were clean and refreshing.

It only took Google a year before they added support for graphical ads which were the standard form of digital advertising before AdSense appeared on the scene and is still a major part of the industry with networks such as Casale Media, ValueClick Media, and many others, but GMail remained text-ad only. That is until recently with the news that Google is adding support for image ads alongside emails already containing images, which was announced as part of their “better ads” upgrade which will also improve the ad-matching algorithm to reflect the more behavioural and longer-term targeting used in the Priority Inbox technology.
